Osaka has been selected as a global hub city for the Cabinet Office’s “Beyond Limits. Unlock Our Potential. : Strategies for creation of startup ecosystem to compete with the world top ecosystems”. (*1)
The application was submitted by the Osaka Startup Ecosystem Consortium (*2) in cooperation with Kyoto and Hyogo-Kobe consortiums.
Osaka Startup Ecosystem Consortium will work to build a world-class startup ecosystem that can take advantage of Kansai’s strengths in the life science field and other areas, by creating a powerful synergistic effect while receiving support from the government.
- Initiatives in Osaka
The constituent members of the Osaka Startup Ecosystem Consortium will work together to realize the hub formation plan. Specifically, we will deepen the Umekita area, where innovation resources such as human resources, technology, ideas, and funds are concentrated, and, through collaboration between large corporations, universities, and government agencies, we will produce startups that can play an active role in the global community as we prepare to host the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and realize a smart city.
- Collaborative Efforts in Keihanshin (Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe)
We will promote the mutual use of resources and support programs that take advantage of the respective strengths of the Keihanshin area, with a focus on the fields of bio/healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, and information and communication, as well as the dissemination of information, with the aim of building an ecosystem capable of producing superior products and services in a speedy and continuous way. We will also work as one to respond to smart cities and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
